Bangi mara

Bangi mara (Carallia brachiata Merrill) one of the native trees in kodagu  is a large tree occurs through out India.It grows to a height of 25 metres and often planted as ornamental tree.Its leaves are the food plant of the moth.

Uses

The fruits and seeds are edible. The seeds contain oil which is used as a substitute for ghee.The bark is mentioned to be useful in the treatment of itching, cuts and wounds, oral ulcers, inflammation of the throat and stomatitis.
