Elande mara – Bullet wood tree

Elande mara (Mimusopselengi L) one of the native trees in Kodagu  is a medium-sized evergreen tree found in tropical forests in South Asia which grows up to 16 ft tall.Bark is thick and appears dark brownish black or grayish black in colour.

Uses

The wood is quite hard and strong. It is used for cabinet works, picture frames and furniture and musical instruments. The bark is used for dyeing clothes. Oil is used for burning lamps. Fruits are edible.
