Thyale mara

Thyale mara (Ficus tsjahela Burm. f)  one of the native trees in Kodagu is a Deciduous tree which grows up to 25 m tall. The bark is dark brown and the inner bark is red with white latex. It usually occurs in coastal areas.

Uses

The wood is quite strong and durable, used for making handles of agricultural implements, tools and bullock carts. The leaves are used as fodder for goats and as a source of green manure.
