Porpani (Poraépani)
Kodavas, after Koi-pani (Rice harvest work) used to pile up fresh rice hay on their roof . This process was called ‘Por-pani’ (Poraépani). The roof of the house is called “Poraé” in Kodava Thakk and “Pani/ಪಣಿ” means work. Gradually with the conversion of hay roofs with mud tiles and concrete , this process was dead and forgotten. This work was done using traditional Mui Aall – Kood Aall concept ( Where whole village work for each other instead of employing labourers).
