Nettle leaf grows from 1 to 2mtrs tall during summer and down to the ground during winter. Nettles are the food for several species like butterflies and moths. When these leaves come in contact with skin, they produce inflammatory effect on the skin causing irritation.

Nettles are used in making herbal tea, soup, cheese, and also in traditional medicine. Nettle stems contain bast fibres which are used to make clothes.
