Godda mara – Indian ash tree
Godda mara (Lannea coromandelica (Houtt) Merr.)one of the native trees in Kodagu is a deciduous tree which grows up to to 25 tall. Bark surface is grey to dark brown, rough, exfoliating in small irregular flakes. It most commonly grows in exposed dry woodland environments, where the tree is smaller and more crooked.
