Balanji
Balanji (Acrocarpus fraxinifolius W. & A.) one of the native trees in Kodagu which grows up to 60 M tall. The stem is cylindrical with thin bark and light grey in colur. In the early spring, as the tree first leafs out, red scarlet flowers appear.

Uses
Wood is used for interior trim, panelling, furniture and cabinet work. Within its native range it is also used for shingles, general construction, floors, stairways, doors, tea crates, beehive frames, and after being impregnated, for railway ties.
