About the Okka

Appaneravanda is one of the well-known okka among Kodava community who are basically from Kirndad. When the Tipu’s army captured the people in this area only three persons from the village survived i.e, Appaneravanda, Chottanda and Badumanda Okka. Appaneravanda Achaiah was one among the three leaders who helped Dodda Veeraraja and his family to escape from the prison and bring them back to Kodagu.
