Akki Batti Basket made of Bamboo or cane or Reed and usually its smeared with Cow dung for durability.

It was used to carry rice and paddy. it can also be used for carrying any other items but the ones with smeared cowdung is mostly used for rice and paddy as the gaps between the reed/cane is covered

Tentative reasons for extinction

Few Variants are still in use in some old houses, although it has been largely replaced today in modern houses by more contemporary  materials like Plastic
