Koothanda Vivek Poovaiah

Koothanda Vivek Poovaiah an Entrepreneur & Social activist from Kodagu was born on 25^th June 1966. A pioneering figure who used his entrepreneurial skills to enrich not only himself but also all of  Kodagu. He was an all rounder during his younger days and passed out as the best outgoing student. He was also interested in sports and represented his college in hockey and Badminton.

General

• He upgraded the post office in Pollibetta and it was awarded the Best Sub post office in Karnataka
• He was also the best all round Cadet in NCC Naval Wing and participated in All India Ship Attachment Camp in Mumbai on-board INS Shakthi and adjudged as the best cadet in the camp. He Participated in Para Trooping Camp at Agra and in Republic Day NCC (best Cadet Competition) New Delhi.

Transportation

• He made Kodagu district see a major public transport transformation post Indian Independence with Karnataka State Road Transport Corp(KSRTC) commencing its first Airavatha(Volvo)services 
• He was actively involved with the best State Transport undertaking-Karnataka state road transport corporation and sanctioned close to 120 odd new schedules into Kodagu District to every nook and corner
• He linked every town in Kodagu with KSRTC service to Bangalore
• He introduced the first Airavatha Volvo services into Kodagu District and also introduced the new interstate express services linking Kodagu district for the benefit of general commuters during the tenure from Mr K Jairaj to Mr Gaurav Gupta as its Vc MD spanning a period up to 13 years.
• He combined new routes close to 110 services and connectivity to rural areas enhancing the privilege for rural masses to get hassle free travel and to give a boost to the students ferternity to get better education facility far and away from their local village and towns and avail free student passes and other benefits
• During the term of Mr Joshi as the Vc MD, he upgraded the KSRTC bus stand at Virajpet.

• First Indian and the Only Kodava to achieve the status of being the first guest of several Five star Hotels Globally .
