Paaruli/Karadi mara

Paaruli/Karadi mara(Chukrasiatabularis A. Juss) one of the native trees in Kodagu which grows up to 30 m tall.Bark is reddish-brown with thin irregular flakes. Oblong flowers, which are rather large and born in terminal panicles, possess four to five petals.

Uses

The wood is strong and durable, used for making delicate furniture, picture frames and fancy tables. Leaf extract is antiviral in nature. Dried leaves extract is used to treat diarrhoea, dysentery and cough.
