Stories of Kayyendira Appayya, one of the Padebeeras of kodagu

• Kayyandhira Appayya from Arapatt , Kadiyathnaad. During the Raja’s time in the 17th century, Kullachanda Chondu, another Padebeeras of kodagu went round Coorg obtaining gifts from all the temples or temple chiefs. Later he was met by an opponent Kayyendira Appayya. Both these men were great heroes of the time and they subdued or defeated a number of local chiefs, and finally Chondu himself was killed by Appayya. There are folk songs and ballads in honour of Chondu also. They fought each other in a deadly game called Oththé Poith.
