Cardamom is referred as yelakki in Kodava thakk. It is a spice made from the seeds of several plants in the genera Elettaria and Amomum in the family Zingiberaceae. The two main type of cardamoms are – Green Cardamom and Black Cardamom. These cardamoms are common ingredient in Indian cooking and are also used as flavoring, as spice for food and as medicine.
