One ancestor settled in <strong data-start=\"340\" data-end=\"348\">Podd<\/strong>, where he established what is now known as <strong data-start=\"392\" data-end=\"414\">Achappanda Okka\u2013II<\/strong>. The other ancestor is believed to have performed <strong data-start=\"465\" data-end=\"482\">Mannk Nindiya<\/strong> (a customary form of adoption into another family) into a Brahmin household in <strong data-start=\"562\" data-end=\"570\">Arji<\/strong>, illustrating the social customs that existed in Kodagu for preserving family lineages and property.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"673\" data-end=\"789\">These migrations led to the formation of distinct family branches while maintaining their shared ancestral heritage.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"791\" data-end=\"794\" \/>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/kodavaclan.com\/kodaguheritage\/karona-moolapurasha\/\">Moolapurusha<\/a><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"813\" data-end=\"979\">The founding ancestor (<strong data-start=\"836\" data-end=\"852\">Moolapurusha<\/strong>) of the Achappanda Okka is traditionally remembered as <strong data-start=\"908\" data-end=\"920\">Ponnappa<\/strong>, from whom the lineage of the clan is believed to descend.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"981\" data-end=\"984\" \/>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/kodavaclan.com\/kodaguheritage\/intermarriages-between-the-okkas\/\">Intermarriage<\/a><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1004\" data-end=\"1431\">The Achappanda Okka shares a unique historical relationship with the <a href=\"https:\/\/kodavaclan.com\/kodaguheritage\/mane-pedha\/\">Patta\u1e0da<\/a><strong data-start=\"1073\" data-end=\"1089\">\u00a0Okka<\/strong>. According to family tradition, during the military campaigns of <a href=\"https:\/\/kodavaclan.com\/kodaguheritage\/kodava-clans-affected-during-the-campaigns-of-tipu-sultan-in-kodagu\/\"><strong data-start=\"1155\" data-end=\"1170\">Tipu Sultan<\/strong><\/a> in Kodagu, only a single daughter of the Pattada Okka survived. An Achappanda man married her through the customary practice of <strong data-start=\"1299\" data-end=\"1316\">Mannk Nindiya<\/strong> and subsequently assumed the <strong data-start=\"1346\" data-end=\"1380\">Mane Peda (house name) Pattada<\/strong> to ensure the continuation of the Pattada lineage.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1433\" data-end=\"1682\">As a result of this historical adoption and the shared ancestry that followed, <a href=\"https:\/\/kodavaclan.com\/kodaguheritage\/mane-pedha\/\">Achappan\u1e0da<\/a><strong data-start=\"1512\" data-end=\"1562\">\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/kodavaclan.com\/kodaguheritage\/mane-pedha\/\">Patta\u1e0da<\/a> Okkas do not intermarry<\/strong>, observing the traditional Kodava custom that prohibits marriage between families considered to share a common lineage.<\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"1684\" data-end=\"1687\" \/>\n<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/kodavaclan.com\/kodaguheritage\/4805-2\/\">Eminent People<\/a><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1709\" data-end=\"1837\">The Achappanda Okka has produced several distinguished individuals who have served society in various capacities.
