About the Okka<\/a><\/h2>\n

The ancestors of this Okka<\/a> knew how to write and used to assist king\u2019s men in writing down the names. So they were called the Okka<\/a> of Elthkara which eventually became Elthanda.<\/p>\n

Intermarriage<\/a><\/h2>\n

Elthanda Okka<\/a> used to go to Peyyavur Temple festival every year with Eth Por. One day they had bull fight with Battakalanda<\/a> of Kunjalgeri and defeated their bull.<\/p>\n

Infuriated by this the Battakalanda<\/a> man killed Elthanda bull.<\/p>\n

In revenge, an angered Elthanda man killed Battakalanda<\/a> man on the day of Puthari<\/a>. Ever since then Battakalanda<\/a> people cut Kadh<\/a> after their puthari<\/a> meal.<\/p>\n

Elthanda people keep kupadi on the spot where their ox was killed and buried. For several years these two okkas<\/a> never visited Peyyavur with ox.<\/p>\n

Because of all these conflicts they do not intermarry<\/a>.<\/p>\n
