Kodava wedding<\/a> is one of the fun filled traditional ceremonies which are performed in the absence of Brahmin priests.<\/p>\n

There are various types of Mangala<\/a> which were followed in the ancient times. Few among them are listed below –<\/p>\n

Types of Mangala<\/h2>\n

Baalek Mangala<\/strong><\/h3>\n

When a man loses one or two wives, a ritual of marriage ceremony to banana stump is performed. This is carried out to avoid the death of his new bride after marriage.<\/p>\n

Kuthik Nippo<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This was performed to prevent extinction of the bride\u2019s Okka<\/a>. When an unmarried girl or widow is left in the Okka <\/a>then she gets married to a boy who agrees to take her clan name in order to continue the Okka<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Kemi Kuthi Mangala<\/a><\/strong> <\/h3>\n

Ceremony held for piercing ear.<\/p>\n

Nari Mangala<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n

This ceremony is held to honour one who has killed a tiger.<\/p>\n

Pachadakke Nadapa<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This custom is followed to prevent extinction of the Okka<\/a>. When an unmarried woman is left in the Okka<\/a> with children, a Kodava man who accepts the children to carry the name of Woman\u2019s Okka<\/a> will have rights only to have food and clothes from that woman\u2019s house. He can marry another girl to continue the name of his own Okka<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Marriage<\/a> to a widow or divorcee<\/p>\n

Kanni Mangala<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Marriage<\/a> to a maiden<\/p>\n

Paitandek Alapad  <\/strong><\/h3>\n

Kodhi Mangala<\/a><\/strong> <\/h3>\n

This custom was followed in the earlier days to celebrate parents love for their child<\/p>\n

Mane Mangala<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Celebrated to honour the person who build house for their family<\/p>\n

Pole Kanda Mangala<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n

Celebrated when a girl attains puberty<\/p>\n

Kuliyime Mangala<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n
