Belliappa from Kodagu is a retired <a href=\"https:\/\/kodavaclan.com\/kodaguheritage\/civil-services\/\">IAS officer<\/a> of Tamil Nadu, who was decorated with the Most <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4585 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/kodavaclan.com\/kodaguheritage\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/PB.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"201\" height=\"163\">Excellent Order of the \u2018Member of the British Empire (MBE)\u2019 by the Queen of England. He was the \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/kodavaclan.com\/kodaguheritage\/goorg-person-of-the-year\/\">Coorg Person of the Year 2011\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Family<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Father<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kodavaclan.com\/kodaguheritage\/pemmanda-m-monnappa\/\">Pemmanda Monappa<\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Education<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Master\u2019s degrees in both Economics and English and also a law degree<\/li>\n<li>He was a Research Fellow at the Centre for South Asian Studies, Cambridge University<\/li>\n<li>He obtained a Diploma in Development Administration from Manchester University, United Kingdom<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Achievements<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>As a tribute to and recognition of the value of committed public service and integrity, Belliappa established the \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/kodavaclan.com\/kodaguheritage\/pemmanda-okka\/\">Pemanda<\/a> Monappa Scholarship\u2019 in perpetuity, in Cambridge University in the name of his late father, which will enable one student from the southern states of India to pursue a Masters Course.<\/li>\n<li>Belliappa, in his 35-year-long service in the IAS, had occupied important posts, starting as District Collector<\/li>\n<li>He held the post of head of the National Hydro Electric Corporation of India<\/li>\n<li>He was the Chairman and Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Corporation of India.<\/li>\n<li>He was leader and member of several Indian delegations to ESCAP, UNIDO, World Bank and other leading financial institutions.<\/li>\n<li>He served as Chairman of International Workshop on \u201cClean Technologies\u201d&nbsp;organized by the Regional Institute of&nbsp;Environmental Technology (R.I.E.T.) Singapore, a European Union sponsored institution.<\/li>\n<li>He was given the MBE award for his contribution towards improving the Indo-U.K. relationship, especially in his capacity as President of the Association of British Scholars (ABS), over many years.<\/li>\n<li>He was selected <a href=\"https:\/\/kodavaclan.com\/kodaguheritage\/goorg-person-of-the-year\/\">\u2018Coorg Person of the Year\u2019<\/a> in a poll conducted among the members of www.coorgtourisminfo.com, a news portal of Kodagu (Coorg).<\/li>\n<li>Presenting the MBE award, Mike Nitharvrianakis, British Deputy High Commissioner in southern India, had said that the award was in recognition of Mr. Belliappa\u2019s services to environmental protection and for promoting Indo-U.K. alumni relations<\/li>\n<li>Mr Belliappa took the opportunity to visit the University Library where he presented Mrs Anne Jarvis, University Librarian, with a copy of the first volume of a trilogy on &#8216;Madras, that is now Chennai&#8217;, which he has co-authored.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Awards<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>He received the MBE award from Mike Nitharvrianakis, British Deputy High Commissioner in southern India<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/kodavaclan.com\/kodaguheritage\/goorg-person-of-the-year\/\">Coorg Person of the Year<\/a>\u2019 in 2011<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span id=\"Archive\">Archive<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/kodavaclan.com\/kodaguheritage\/mbe-for-p-m-belliappa\/\">MBE for P M Belliappa<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pemmanda.M.
