Someyanḍa-2 Ainmane

Location

Chembebeḷiyur.

Features

Othe pore, with a stone-paved yard in front. The front of the verandah is enclosed by netting, and its lower half is covered by curtains. Direction towards East, it is about 300 years old. The verandah has a simple doorframe, a modern window with no carvings, and old pillars with deeply engraved beautiful carvings on their capitols – of lotuses and in one case, a big crocodile.

They celebrate Karanang kodpa only in the ainmane. (They used to do it separately in each of the three houses of the three bhagas here until three years ago – now all the three bhagas meet in the kala and celebrate karanang kodpa together.) The three bhagas also meet at the Ishwara temple for Puthari, but celebrate Puthari, Kail Polud and Kaveri Sankramana separately in their houses.
