Ponjanda S Appaiah

Ponjanda  S  Appaiah was born in Virajpet, Kodagu. He is an Indian author,Scholar and Educationist. He is noted for his brilliant work in Bangalore.

Career

Appaiah was a Professor who taught Sociology and was the chairman of Sree Cauvery School in Bangalore. He also wrote a few books.

Achievements

  • He was the Author of Kodava –English Dictionary
  • His book on the history of Kodagu prior to 1600 AD
  • A book on the customs of the Kodavas
  • He wrote a traditional poem in honour of Field Marshal Cariappa.

He specializes in matters pertaining to the Kodavas,the natives of Kodagu, their language, culture and history, He has also written a number of books on related topics. He is also an expert on Kodava folklore.
