Peeche Kathi
The Peeche Kathi is an ornamental dagger indigenous to the Kodava community of Coorg. It is used as a ceremonial accessory and is worn by Kodava men on important occasions.
About
The handle of the Peeche Kathi is shaped like a parrot or peacock. The sheath is beautifully decorated with a gold covering and embedded with rubies. It is made of pure silver, silver and wood, or silver/gold. The sheath is linked to an intricately designed long silver chain, which ends in an assortment of miniature replicas of Kodava weapons. The sheath also has a stunning bundle of silver tassels attached to it.
The Peeche Kathi is worn tucked into the chele of a Kodava man’s Kupya.
