Pattada U Cariappa was born on May 28th,1933 son of renowned educationist P.M.Uthappa. He was the first Kodava to get into IIT.

Education

He dis his schooling in Kodagu and later went to  St Joseph’s College Bangalore and Madras Christian College to complete his studies. He completed his Engineering in Naval Achitecture at IIT Karagpur. 

Achievements

• He worked for Mazagon Docks and Vizag docks for a short time and later on worked in the barges of Binny Mills Chennai and Cochin.
• After his retirement as Chief Manager of Cochin Shipyard, He also served  for the Organizations like Coorg Orange society ,Kavery College and old age home of Ramakrishna Ashram.
