Pattada Okka

About the Okka

The land belonged to a Brahmin family. Tippu’s soldiers destroyed the temple on the land and killed all the members of the brahmin’s family.

Intermarriage

Only one girl escaped the attack, and an Achappanḍa man married her (mannk nindiya). He adopted the mane peda Pattaḍa.

An Achappanḍa man bought a brahmin’s land and established this okka – hence they were called Pattaḍa.

Their karanava belonged to the Achappanḍa okka from PeggaỊa. So they have a common kaimada with the Achappanḍa okka and do not intermarry.
