Pathaaya

Pathaaya refers to a room like enclosure made with wooden planks to store paddy. This is usually built in or near a house/ainmane.

About

They are usually built above the ground to keep the stored food away from Rodents and other animals. The grains are spread in thin layers on the ground and allowed to aerate thoroughly. One the grain is dried properly; they are transferred to Pathaya for storage.
