• Post graduate in Economics and Bachelor of law from Mysore University
• Post graduate Diploma in management from Swedish institute of Management, Sweden
• Master’s Degree in advanced Management from BANF school of Management, Canada

Achievements

• He was Commissioned into 2^nd Bn,1^st grade Gurkha Rifles in 1964 and served in the forward area in Jammu & Kashmir.
• In 1965 he served in the Sialkot sector. During his service he qualified  in the competitive  examination for IAS and was allotted to the Karnataka Cadre.
• He held the senior positions both in Secretariat and in various state Government Public Undertakings.
• He was the Principal Secretary to the Government Home and Transport Department
