She was a graduate from M.S.University, Baroda. She did her masters in America in the 1960s.
Career
A multi talented Ranee was an accomplished kathakalli and Brathnatyam Dancer who lived in Nilgris. Her husband died at a young age and that is when she gave up dancing and started writing short stories. She had worked as a lecturer in Maharani’s College,Bangalore. She worked as a Public Relations manager for Ford U.S.A.
Achievements
- As a Kalakshethra dancer she performed all over the state.
- She was the advertising filmmaker and author of three bestselling cookbooks. She re-launched two of them at the ITC Windsor, Bengaluru.
- “Cuisine from Coorg” the first of her cookery series was first published in 2000.
- As a culinary expert she.taught the intricacies of coorg cuisine to the chefs of the Taj Gateway and Taj West End hotel,Bangalore.
- She was an avid Golfer and writer of Short stories.
- She wrote books on Tamil Nadu and Karnataka cuisines.
- She started a company called Shadow Light Co-ordinators and would do high-end food and fashion shoots in Bangalore.
Despite all her sophistication, she remained a Kodavathi at heart, most often elegantly dressed in a traditional long-sleeved jacket and Kodavathi style sari, in all her public appearances. She died on 17th October 2017.
