Mundanda (Puchimanda) Anupamma

Mundanda (Puchimanda) Anupamma  a sportsperson was born on 8th July 1980 in Kodagu. She is the first Indian woman umpire who started her international career in 2004 and the first woman referee from India to officiate in  international hockey matches. She was selected by the Federation International Hockey as  one of the youngest umpires among ten men and women in the world. She had a passion for sports when she was 9 and since then she never looked back.

  • Officiated as the umpire in the first Takamadonomiya four nation International hockey tournament held at Japan.
  • Officiated as the umpire in the junior Asia cup held at Hyderabad (India) 2004 officiated the finals china v/s Korea.
  • Officiated as the umpire in the Korean television six Nation International Tournament held at, Korea 2005.
  • Officiated as the umpire in the junior world cup held at Chile, Santiago 2005.
  • Officiated as the umpire in the East Asian games held at macaw 2005.Officiated the finals Japan v/s Korea.
  • Officiated as the umpire in the common wealth games held at Melbourne, Australia 2006.
  • Officiated as the umpire in the xx Central American and Caribbean games Held at Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic 2006.
  • Officiated as the umpire in the 3 nation tournament held at Italy
  • Officiated as the umpire in the 4 nation tournament held at Singapore. Officiated the finals Australia v/s Malaysia. 2007.
  • Officiated as the umpire in the 4 nation’s tournament held at Rotterdam. Holland 2008.
  • Officiated as the umpire in the 4 nation’s tournament held at Bremen Germany 2008.
  • Officiated as the umpire in the junior Asia cup held at Malaysia 2008. Officiated the finals Korea v/s china.
  • Officiated as the umpire in the youth Olympic Games held at Australia 2009 Officiated the finals Australia v/s England.

Achievements

  • First women hockey umpire from India to officiate 88 International matches,
  • First women hockey umpire from India to officiate the Junior World Cup and Two Common Wealth games,
  • Represented India in the umpires seminar held at Singapore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Chandigarh and New Delhi.
  • Represented the Karnataka State as an player in the Sub-junior and Senior women’s National hockey championships,
  • Represented Mangalore University as an player consecutively for two years at the all India Inter-university hockey championship
  • Awarded the best all-rounder in the Academic year 2002-2003.

Awards

  • Namma Bengaluru Award Sports Person, February 09, 2011.
  • Awarded the Best Umpire Women India by Sardar Gain Singh memorial hockey society at New Delhi 2007.
  • Selected by the Federation International Hockey as one of the Youngest Umpire among the ten men and women in the world 2005.
