Muckatira Okka – Kunjalgeri

About the Okka

Paradanda Ponnappa was the Karykara in the army of Dodda Veerappa. When few Nayaks from different Naad refused to pay taxes Raja wanted to capture them. Ponnappa agreed to this challenge and defeated them. Pleased with Ponnappas bravery Raja made him as the Diwan and also gifted him with 500 bhatti bhumi of Kollakongi Nayaka and 1000 bhatti bhumi of Nad thakka of Muckatira Okka in Kunjalgeri.

Intermarriage

Paradanda Diwan Ponnappa’s eldest son Annayya settled in Kunjalgeri and took the Muckatira family name during their extinct. Hence they do not intermarry.
