Mukatira Darshan Aiyappa

Mukatira Darshan Aiyappa a famous Kodava sportsperson was  born on 5th April 1989, is a hockey player who debuted for the Indian team in the Asian Champions Trophy, Doha, Qatar. He holds the Ekalavya award to his credit .He was gifted a hockey stick by his parents when he secured a rank in class 7 which changed his sporting choice. Till then, Aiyappa used to play only Cricket and Basketball.

Education

  • Did his schooling from St Joseph’s College Bangalore, 2005
  • Completed his BA (Bachelor’s degree) from St Joseph’s Arts and science college Bangalore in 2010

Career

  • He joined the SAI Sports Hostel where his career looked brighter and got selected for Karnataka State.

Achievements

  • He represented Karnataka State in both Junior and Senior Nationals, where his team reached the finals
  • In 2011 he won Silver medal in first Senior Nationals
  • In 2012 he won Bronze medal in Second Senior Nationals
  • In 2013 he won Bronze medal in Third Senior Nationals
  • In 2014 he won Silver medal in Fourth Senior Nationals
  • He was a part of Doha team that won the Silver
  • He participated in many all India tournaments like Surjith memorial Tournament, Beton cup , Ranjith Singh Tournament, MCC Murugappa gold, Tejbahadur Tournament, Abadulla CM cup , Banglore cup etc
  • He won a silver medal in Bombay Gold cup 2015 -16
  • He was picked by Ric Charlesworth (World No.1 coach) to be a part of Mumbai Marines team in the Hockey India League
  • HIL 1st edition played for Mumbai magician team
  • HIL 2nd edition played for Mumbai magician team
  • HIL 3 rd edition played for Ranchi Rays – gold medal
  • HIL 4th edition played for Punjab Warriors -gold medal

Awards

  • Received the Karnataka Olympics Accociation Award in 2015
  • He was honoured with Kempegowda Award in 2017
  •  He received the Ekalavya Award in 2018
