Kambiranda (Mallamada) Narendra Ponnamma

Mallamada Narendra Ponnamma a sportsperson was  born on 25 October 1992 in Kodagu. She is an Indian field hockey player, who played as a halfback for the Indian national team. She is the only Kodavathi to have played for the Sr women’s hockey team. With more than 30 international caps, she is a versatile midfielder working for railways.

Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa College in Madikeri where she was doing B.Com.

Career

Ponnamma was selected by and began training with Madikeri branch of Sports Authority of India, in 2005. After having been noticed for her performances at tournaments at the district level, she was chosen to play for Karnataka in its senior team, at the national-level.

Achievements

She was part of the Indian junior team which secured bronze at the Junior World Cup Tournament held at Monchengladbach in Germany in 2013

She had captained the Karnataka Senior Women’s Hockey team in the nationals.
