Kummu Curry (Nuchhi Kumm)

Nuchhi Kumm is a variety of kumm (mushroom) which are usually found in the coffee estates. They usually grow during the monsoon season.

Ingredients:

Nuchhi Kumm- 1kg                                                                                         
Coconut -3/4
Cumin seed – 1tsp
Onion – 1(Finely Chopped)
Green chillies – 3-4
Mustard seed -1tsp
Tamrind – marble sized
Coriander powder
Salt

Method:

  • Clean and wash the Mushrooms well.
  • Grind the coconut, cumin seed and Tamarind to a fine paste.
  • Heat a pan with little oil and add the mustard seeds, green chilies and the onions and Fry till the onions turn golden brown. Then add the mushrooms with salt and cook for 15 minutes.
  • After the mushroom is cooked add the ground coconut masala and then add the coriander powder and let it boil for 15 minutes.
  • Remove and serve hot.

Kumm curry is best eaten with Akki otti.
