Kolera Zaru Ganapathy

Kolera Zaru Ganapathy is the Chairperson of ponnampet based Sai Shankar Educational Institutions. He is selected for ‘Coorg Person of the Year 2018’ award .He went out of his way to help the victims of natural calamity that struck Kodagu district in August

Education

• He completed his initial studies from Bangalore University and later he studied in St Anne’s college-Oxford, Oxfordshire

Achievements

• When educationist Zaru Ganapathy heard about the tragedy, he initially announced that he would take 25 students in his residential school. Gradually, parents of more children started approaching him and he never thought twice before he said yes to accommodate more students in his institution.
• At present there are 130 students from the affected villages who are accommodated in the residential school. The students are given free education and promised to look after them for another three years
