Milk is poured inside this vessel and is placed on a thaliyathakki bolcha on each of two mukkalis placed in front of bride and groom to sip during Mangala.

Milk is poured inside and all the elders while blessing the groom or the bride make then sip a drop of it to remind that as they are finding their spouses they should not forget the one who had fed them earlier.
