Iychettira C Subbaiah

Iychettira C Subbaiah from Kodagu is the first Kodava  to become the chief secretary of Kodagu.

Education

He completed his M.A and L.L.B from Madras University and returned to Kodagu and practiced in the judicial Service by the govt.of Kodagu.

Career

He became the District and sessions Judge of Kodagu when it was part C state. He was the first Kodava  to become the chief secretary of Kodagu. After the merger of Kodagu with the part B State of Mysore he entered the Indian Administrative Service and retired as the Deputy commissioner of Kodagu. His judgement as Sessions judge in the sensational patricide case in Kodagu, sentencing two principles accused who were Kodavas and two farm servants who were abettors to death,was upheld by the Madras high court which exercised Appellate jurisdiction over Kodagu at the  time and their appeal to the supreme Court  failed. The two principal accused and one of the abettor was hanged and the other abettor having played  a minor role was sentenced to imprisonment for life.
