Dr Monnanda Shobha Erappa
Monnanda Shobha Erappa(PhD) is from Kaikeri Gonikoppal. She is the only Kodavathi among few from India to have participated in International Congress of Mathematicians held recently at Brazil. She is an avid runner and trekker.

- Studied at St. Anthony High School, Ponnampet scoring 92% in SSLC from 1998-2001
- Completed her PUC with Distinction from Cauvery College, Gonicoppal
- Continued her B.Sc in Cauvery College Gonikoppal and stood second in the district.-2003-2006
- Did her M.Sc in Mathematics from Mangalore University in 2008
Career
- In the years 2006 & 2007 Shobha represented Karnataka in “Indian Acadamy Fellowship for Summer Research” & “Jawaharlal Nehru Center for Advanced Scientific Research”.
- She worked as a teacher in COPS, Gonicoppal and as a lecturer in Cauvery College, Gonicoppal.
- Sobha has presented papers in a number of conferences like 78th workshop by Mathematical Society at Varanasi,Conference at Bangkok, Thailand etc
Acheivements
- She is a Senior Assistant Professor in Department of Mathematics, MIT, Manipal.
- She completed her Ph.D from National Institute of Technology, Surathkal, Karnataka.
- She has two post Doctorates to her credit one from National Board of Higher Mathematics Fellowship governed by Dept. of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India at National Institute of Technology & the second post Doctorate at Goettingen University, Germany.
- She is an invited speaker at various colleges including the GIAN programmer at IISER, Trivandrum.
- This Congress is held once in 4 years where only top researchers in Mathematics congregate & highest awards like Fields medal, Gauss medal, Cherns medal & Nevalinna award take place. She has presented her recent research work at the Congress
- She is an active member & cultural secretary of Kodava Samaja, Mangalore.
