Col Mandepanda ( Mevada ) Smitha Aiyappa  is the first kodavathi  in the Indian Army to be selected to the rank of colonel commissioned to ASC in 2005 from OTA , Chennai .

Career 

She has had a illustrious career of 18 years in the army severing in challenging appointments and locations across the country.
Few major achievements include a tenure in UN peacekeeping mission in Israel and Syria (UNDOF) where she was awarded force Commander’s Commendation for displaying exemplary courage 
Her multitalented skills was also displayed in 2013 ‘ Raid the Himalayan’ rally where her army team in a gypsy secured first position in women’s category

She Summited Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak of Africa in 2014
