Chembanda okka

About the Okka

Chembanda okka has two bhagas. The original ainmane of the okka,is this one of Chembanda -1. Brothers Chubbayya and Achayya, sons of the common Adi Karanava Poovanna, had a fight and the younger brother Achayya left this ainmane. 

He took with him Bhadrakali’s potti mara and moga, and established the other bhaga, Chembanda -2. The elder son Chubbayya stayed back with Bhadrakali’s bhandara and kadathale. In the beginning the two bhagas 1 and 2 used to meet for festivals. But they had their differences because of status (one had a thatched roof and the other, a tiled roof) and stopped getting together. They had separate thutengalas and did not observe mutual pole. Now, they get together again and observe pole, but keep their separate thutengalas.
