Achievements

A capture point 5203 in Jammu & Kashmir was strongly held by the enemy and the number of earlier attempts by Capt Muthanna and his team to conquer it had failed.

After this, Capt. Baleyada Muthanna Cariappa and his column formed division of battalion group and tasked to capture the point. After 9 hours of hazardous and a vertical climb the troop successfully entered the trait. When there was intense fire from the enemy, Capt. Muthanna Cariappa attacked the enemy physically by flinging grenades and killing two of them instantly. He sustained injuries on his neck and despite being wounded he crawled and killed enemies effectively.

His courageous action, Exceptional Bravery and leadership qualities helped in successfully capturing the point 5203 at Jammu & Kashmir.

Awards

On Republic day in the year 2000, Baleyada Muthanna Cariappa was awarded “Vir Chakra” for his Exceptional act of Bravery and bold leadership.
