Biddanda Bopanna Ashok – Indian Police
Biddanda Bopanna Ashok(Police Officer), also known as Tiger Ashok Kumar, was born in Parane village, Virajpet. He is a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, credited with arresting several notorious criminals and the many police encounters in which he was involved, trying to capture hardened criminals.
He joined the Karnataka State Police Service in 1977.
His promotion to DCP was challenged by some at KAT. It is said that even though KAT favoured Ashok Kumar, he was deprived of it, owing to petty politics.
Finally, when the order for promotion came, some petitioned against it at the High Court. The court’s verdict was expected on the very day he was to retire. Unfortunately, the court deferred the verdict to a further date.
Kumar retired from service on 31 July, 2012 and faces constant threat to his life from the criminal underworld.
