Ballanamada Dr. Nikhil Nanjappa

Ballanamada Dr. Nikhil Nanjappa M.B.B.S., M.S.(GEN. SURG.), M.R.C.S.(EDINBURGH), F.M.A.S., F.M.I.S., F.C.R.S (U.K) doctor from Kodagu  is the first recipient of the Prestigious Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh International Surgical Fellowship Programme. He was the University Gold Medallist in General Surgery and topper of the Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery exam conducted by the World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons. He is a hard working, conscientious surgeon with a strong ability in leading and engendering high standards of care to his patients.

  • He works as an International Training Fellow/Higher Specialist Registrar (ST8 equivalent) in Colorectal Surgery at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, which is one of the largest colorectal units in the U.K. Work in a team that provides subspecialist level care in Coloproctology to the population of Leicestershire. Deliver emergency general surgery support to the largest Accident & Emergency department in the U.K. 
  • Fellow, minimally invasive surgery, department of GI, HBP, Bariatric & robotic surgery, Narayana Health ltd., Bangalore, India January 2016- May 2017-He Completed a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gastrointestinal & Hepatobiliary surgery from Narayana Health City, Bangalore, India. The fellowship was at a high volume Laparoscopic, Bariatric & Robotic surgery centre, performing over 200 GI & HPB surgeries a month.
  • Founding Consultant Department of General Surgery, Aveksha Hospital, Bangalore, India.  January 2014 – December 2015 –He established the Department of General Surgery at a 200 bedded super specialty private hospital. He was responsible for the procurement of surgical equipment, and the training of nurses and theatre staff. He was involved in the pricing for services and obtaining insurance approvals. Conducted independent surgical clinics, operating theatre lists, consulted on inpatients and provided emergency general surgical support at the hospital in addition to my other fulltime job.
  • Assistant Professor, Department of General Surgery M.S.Ramaiah Medical College, Bangalore, India.  June 2013 – December 2015-He was trained in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary and Gastrointestinal (HPB-GI) unit within the Department of General Surgery at M S Ramaiah Medical College & Hospitals. Was part of a team that averaged 8 GI surgeries per week, in addition to independently carrying out emergency trauma surgeries as the First on-call Registrar. He was Responsible for teaching and training of undergraduate medical students, house officers and postgraduate surgical residents.
