Kuvaleputt-Steamed Jackfruit /Banana cake

Ingredients:                                                                                                   

Jackfruit/Banana pulp – 1cup

Akki Thari (broken rice)-1cup

Sugar or Jaggery – 1 cup or more (depends on the sweetness of the pulp)

Salt – 1/2tsp

Coconut- ½ (cut into small Pieces)

Soda- ¼ tsp

Banana leaf- cut into 6×6 pieces

Cardamom – optional

Ghee

Method:

Wash the Akki thari and soak  it for an hour.

Run the pulp through a sieve to get a smooth paste.

Mix the Akki thari and the pulp.

Add the coconut pieces, sugar/jaggery, soda, and salt to the pulp mixture and keep it aside for an hour.

Run the Banana leaf over the flame for a few seconds on both sides to soften them and make it flexible to fold without breaking.

Pour 4-5 tablespoons of the mixture on each piece of the leaf and fold the sides.

Arrange the cakes in the Syakala (Steamer) and steam it for 30 minutes.

Serve it with Ghee.
