Maneyapanda P Cariappa

Maneyapanda P Cariappa was born in Kodagu. He was selected for the IAS after the World War II. His services were requisitioned by the Central Government in recognition of his competence and intergrity.

Education

He did his schooling at Virajpet and was graduated from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai.

Achievements

  • He worked for Tata Company for about 8 years and later on joined Administrative service and worked as Sub Collector as well as the collector of Madras state.
  • when Madras got separated from Andhra Pradesh, he was shifted to Andhra, where he served as the collector, Commercial Tax Deputy Commissioner and Joint Secretary of Regional Council under government of India.
  • Observing his administrative efficiency he was then appointed as the Chief Forest Conservator of Andhra, where he worked for about two and a half years.
  • Government on recognizing his effort, appointed him as the Registrar of Andhra Pradesh Co-operative Society.
  • Maneyapanda Cariappa also attended the International Coordination meeting at Denmark and later on worked as the Joint secretary of Indian Defence Account Service for about 6 years.

He was the one and only Kodava during the time who got appointed as the Additional Secretary of government of India.
