Budikeri mara-Gun powder tree, Indian charcoal tree
Budikeri mara (Tremaorientalis (L.) Blume) one of the native trees in Kodagu is a small and medium sized tree
which grows up to 10 m tall. Common in dry and evergreen forests along streams in valleys. Bark is greyish green with numerous lenticels. Wood light reddish grey, soft, excellent for making charcoal.
