Kotarangada P Appanna is a famous Kodava sportsperson . He was on born 20 December 1988 in Virajpet is an Indian cricketer who plays for Karnataka and Royal Challengers Bangalore as a specialist slow left arm  bowler and a right handed batsman.

He has been a mainstay of the strong Karnataka first-class side, who recently created history by winning three of the four domestic trophies in India, since his debut in 2006. The left-arm spinner is a former Indian Under-19 player, who featured in Test and ODI’s.

Appanna made his first-class debut for Karnataka as a 17-year-old in 2006 against Baroda, taking two wickets in the first innings. He made four further appearances in the competition, as Karnataka finished second in Elite Group A. In February 2007, Appanna made first of his four Under-19 Test appearance for India against New Zealand.

He was selected in the squad for Royal Challengers Bangalore for the 2009 Indian Premier League. He played again for Bangalore in the 2010 tournament, In January 2012 he signed for the 2012 tournament after a strong season for Karnataka.

He represented the State through the age-groups and has since played 88 matches across the three formats. Appanna has taken exactly 100 first-class wickets averaging 37.78 with best match figures of 11-107. He has also contributed useful runs in the lower-order. Appanna has represented the Royal Challengers Bangalore during the 2009, 2010 and 2012 IPL tournaments. However, he hasn’t featured in the past three editions, Appanna has not played first-class for Karnataka since December 2013. Nevertheless, he continues to excel in the Karnataka Premier League for Bijapur Bulls, albeit is now seemingly out of contention of IPL selection, Appanna is keen to play European league cricket for the 2017 season and clearly, given his experience represents a high-class acquisition.
