Somayanda Appachu Subbaiah(ADGP)
Somayanda Appachu Subbaiah Additional Director General (Intelligence) was born in 1944 in Chettalli, Kodagu.He joined the Indian police service in 1968 after securing high rank in the All India Civil services examination. He was a devoted officer who was honoured by the Prime minister of India.

Education
He did his MA in Economics and degree in Law from the University of Madras. He scored a high Rank in All India Civil Services Examination and entered the Indian Police service in 1968. Later He completed his doctorate in Economics.
Achievements
- He served as Superintendent of Police in Kolar Gold Fields in the year 1971-73, Tumkur In 1973-76 and Mysore in 1975-79.
- He served the Govt. of India in the Research and Analysis wing, holding many sensitive appointments including two diplomatic assignments abroad from 1979to 1996.
- He was the Inspector General of Police in 1992. In 1996 he returned to serve in Cadre state,Karnataka.
- In 1997 he was promoted as the Additional Director General (Intelligence) in Karnataka.
Awards
- He was awarded the Indian Police Medal for distinguished service in 1955.
- He was honoured the Asadharan Suraksha Seva Patra in 1996.
His career was cut short by his sudden demise in 1997 when he was just 52 years.
