Koriya
About
“Koriya” is referred to “Squirrel” in Kodava language.
They are the members of the family called “Sciuridae”.
They are generally small animals which range from 7 to 10 cms in length and 10 gms in weight; the hind legs are longer than the fore limbs; they are normally active during day time.
Types
Usually these three types of squirrels are commonly found –
- ground squirrels
- tree squirrels
- flying squirrels
Food
They eat a wide variety of plants like seeds, nuts, fruits, green vegetation, etc., as well as small birds, rodents, snakes, insects, birds eggs, etc.,
