Captain Ketolira C Medappa a dynamic Airforce officer  was born in the year 1915 to Diwan Bahadur Ketolira Chengappa and Ponnamma (“Codanda” Family), Yavakapadi Village, Napoklu. An alumnus of Bishop Cottons Boys School, Bangalore (1934 Batch). Maxed his interview at the IMA with his friend “Monty” Palit (Later a General) coming in second. He was the first officer to join the 2nd Sikhs and later joined the 4/12 Frontier Force Regiment. He was killed on 16th December, 1941 at the age of 26 in the first day of action at Kota Baru (Malaysia). His company was defending a post on the Badang and Sabak beach area when he was hit.

The grapevine has it that his commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel  (Later Brigadier) A.E. Cummings recommended him for the Victoria Cross, which was later awarded to the C/O of the same theater.

K.C. Medappa IC/332, 2nd Bn, 12th Frontier Force Regiment was buried at Column No.229 in Singapore Memorial, Singapore. The said memorial is commemorated in perpetuity by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
