Dr Bojjangada (Kuppanda)Avanija Sommaiah a Phd from Kodagu is a Lecturer in Napoklu Govt PU College was awarded the best teacher on Teachers day(5^th Sp,2019) at Ambedkar Bhavan .She is also the author of books like ‘William Shakespeare and His Plays’ and ‘Field Marshal K M Cariappa’.

Significant work done at Napoklu:

• The college faced shortage of professors and there was no principal which added more problems. The college became Karnataka Public school, but all financial support was given to High school only.
• Even during heavy rainfall in 2018 students were irregular due to Pitiable condition of the PU Class rooms
• The college which lacked maintenance and was beyond repair was demolished and rebuilt with help from Abraham Moses and his team who is also the founder president of NGO-GOONJ
• They built six class rooms with steel roof support, electric connection, water connection, vetrified floor tiles,toilets etc
• The entire campus was cleared by 200 public people from Napoklu and they were also given GOONJ kits each worth Rs 2500/.

She participated twice in State level Quiz program “Thatt antha Heli “by Dr Someshwar. She scored 100/120 marks in the first episode and she won second place in special 3500^th episode conducted for special achievers in previous slots

She is also an author and published 2 books Shakespeare and his plays (2011) and Field Marshal K M Cariappa.

• She was honoured by Bangalore Kodava Samaj  for her books
• She received Sahitya Rayna award by Kuvempu Pratishtana in 2014
• She won the State award for Best teacher on September 5^th,2019
